Talk about a one-two punch.
A day after adding Richie Sexson to the fold, the Mariners topped themselves by reaching a five-year, $64 million deal with third baseman Adrian Beltre. An American League source confirmed the deal, though the official announcement is pending completion of a physical.
Beltre, 25, was second only to Carlos Beltran in the free agent market. The former Dodger was runner-up to Barry Bonds for National League MVP Award last season, batting .334 with 121 RBIs and a baseball-best 48 home runs.
