St. Joseph, Minn. -- CORRECTION PUBLISHED 12/11/04: This article gave the wrong day for Bobby Vee's holiday concert. He will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Historic Pantages Theatre, 701 Hennepin Av. S., Minneapolis.
Probably because he came from a more wholesome era of rock 'n' roll, there's a lot that Bobby Vee remembers. Like the songs he sang when he filled in for Buddy Holly the night after the tragic plane crash (contrary to legend, none were Holly tunes). And the first time he heard a Beatles recording of one of his songs (they actually did two).
