Good news! To librarians everywhere, the report that Google plans to digitize millions of books from five major research libraries (Harvard, Stanford, the University of Michigan, the New York Public Library, and Oxford University) comes as glad tidings indeed. For library customers, the news is equally good. It means that more of the world's accumulated knowledge will be digitally available. Libraries like the Denver Public Library will be able to do more to help customers gain access to and make the most of the information.
