Dec. 22--Federal employees at all levels in Palm Beach County will receive the same salary as their counterparts in Broward and Miami-Dade County beginning with the pay period that begins Jan. 9, U.S. Rep Mark Foley said Tuesday.
Foley, R-Palm Beach Gardens, along with U.S. Reps. Clay Shaw, Robert Wexler and Alcee Hastings, had been pushing for equal pay since Palm Beach County was included in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Miami Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area in 2003. They contended that there was no justification for lower salaries in Palm Beach County because the cost of living is the same as in counties to the south.
