WE DROVE THROUGH a stunning, orange-tinged Carolina twilight to see our granddaughters' Christmas program at their local Baptist church.
Groups of children, steadily escalating in age, performed jaunty, updated versions of old carols and melodic pieces about the birth of Christ. Then, the teens launched their segment of the program with a lively song that essentially said, Happy Holidays.
I was glad no censor had deemed the piece politically incorrect.
And I was annoyed, in that charming setting, that the thought even crossed my mind.
