HAYWARD, Calif.-Mervyn's named Rick Leto president and chief merchandising officer, effective Jan. 5.
The 30-year retail veteran was most recently president and chief merchandising officer of Galyan's Trading Co., a sporting goods retailer. Prior to joining Galyan's, Leto was executive vice president of merchandising for Kohl's, Mervyn's direct competitor.
Last summer, Target Corp. sold the promotional department store chain to investment firms Sun Capital Partners, Cerberus Capital Management and Adler/Klaff Partners for $1.65 billion in cash.
