By this time next year, Qatar-based Arab news network, Al Jazeera, will be distributing a bouquet of channels designed not only to offer an alternative world view of news events, belt to capitalise on--and hopefully monetise--a brand that is nothing if not well recognised.
The pursuit of profit has already begun with the launch of an Arabic-language sports channel and the planned launches next year of children's and documentary channels. Al Jazeera has also launched a range of mobile and online applications.
