  VIRGINIA POWER TO CUT MT. STORM NITROGEN OXIDE EMISSIONS 
RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Virginia Power has signed a contract that will lead to a 50 percent reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions from the company's Mt. Storm Power Station. 
The contract with ABB Combustion Engineering Services Inc. calls for installation of nitrogen oxide controls on all three generating units at Mt. Storm, located about 120 miles west of Washington, D.C.  The controls will reduce Mt. Storm's annual nitrogen oxide discharges by as much as 20,000 tons per year.  Nitrogen oxide contributes to the formation of acid rain and smog.
