Dec. 26--A sharp slowdown in the population growth of neighboring Fremont County does not mean the same fate awaits Pueblo West, say Fremont County leaders.
Aside from other factors, they say, Fremont County's dropoff only appears a lull between jobs-creation projects, led by the planned construction of a second maximum-security state prison, the leaders say.
"I think we'll see another (growth) spurt with that," Bruce Redus, executive director of Fremont County Economic Development Corp., said of the planned prison, currently stalled by a lawsuit
