When Glass Nickel Pizza Co. co-founders Brian Glassel and Tim Nicholson met while working at Pizza Extreme in the late 1990s, Madison had plenty of pizza places.
But they decided to open another one, though many in the business community felt the enterprise was doomed to fail, because the market was saturated.
"Yeah, according to all the local bankers and retail shop owners," began Glassel, "who didn't want to lend us any money," continued Nicholson, "or rent us their space, because they said there were too many pizza places, and we'd never make it for that reason," concluded Glassel. "The bums." ...
