Wisconsin has 23 counties with reports of wild pigs, but none on the scale of Crawford County.
Kyle LaFond, a Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist, has been studying the extent of the wild swine problem in Wisconsin.
"Crawford definitely is the strongest population from year to year," he said. "In terms of a sustained problem, I would say Crawford County is where it's at."
Crawford County hugs the Mississippi River about 100 miles west of Madison.
The first reports of wild pigs there were in 1999 but were fairly sporadic. But by late 2002, pigs were being seen regularly in the hills ...
