Back in the days of Colonial America, most of the toys children had were handmade. Parents would make dolls and other toys out of whatever materials they had on hand. Believe it or not, they made some dolls with heads carved from an apple.
This art lesson will show you how to make your own apple doll. To make the body, we will use something the Colonials wouldn't have had, a small soda bottle. What is neat about the process is that when the apple dries, wrinkles form on the apple giving the face so much character.
Materials:
1. apple
2. knife (Make sure you have a parent's permission and supervision.)
