PROJECT OVERVIEW:
In its first overseas initiative, India-based NATIONAL THERMAL POWER CORP. (NTPC) recently proposed building a coal-fired power station in Sri Lanka. According to the terms of the proposal NPC is proposing to build a plant with an installed generating capacity of 300 Mw.
In so doing, NPC is expected to implement the project in collaboration with BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS (BHEL) of India and the local CEYLON ELECTRICITY BOARD (CEB). As things currently stand, NTPC has recently submitted a comprehensive proposal to the Sri Lankan government and CEB.
