Dec. 30--Partiers won't be the only ones popping corks on New Year's Eve.
For some Milwaukee area hotels, the last night of the year offers ample reason to celebrate, providing a fizzy shot of business during a stretch that's typically as flat as yesterday's champagne.
"It's our biggest single-night revenue maker," said Patrick Donelly, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee.
The 484-room hotel typically is about 80 percent full on New Year's Eve, and Friday figures to be no exception, with the place packed by locals who have purchased room-and-party packages ranging from $329 to about $500.
