Debbie Conkin, 53, the first woman to achieve the rank of commander in the district attorney's Bureau of Investigation, has come a long way--geographically and professionally.
A 16-year veteran of the San Diego district attorney's office, the Dallas-born Conkin will assume her new duties Jan. 7. Until then, she'll continue as supervising investigator for special operations. Conkin also has worked in the professional standards, family protection and central pretrial divisions, as well as the El Cajon branch of the district attorney's office.
