Even if you don't know it by name, you most likely have seen the all-too-ubiquitous Hypericum ground cover known as St. Johnswort. Besides its attractive bright yellow spring flowers, it's also know for its invasive spreading roots. There are, however, spectacular Hypericum shrubs that are adorned with the same showy flowers, but lack the aggressive tendencies of their ground-cover cousin. Two beauties forming 3-foot mounds are H. androsaemum 'Albury Purple,' sporting dark purple new growth, and H. x moserianum 'Tricolor,' with dark green leaves stained pink and white.
