When a technically pioneering hospital in Erie, Pa., was faced with the challenge to establish a wideband link between the hospital and a data center four blocks away, it had all the Saint Vincent Health Center wanted to insure the communications link would never be interrupted. It installed a single-hop microwave link.
Saint Vincent Health System was one of the first hospitals in the nation to use imaging technology for medical records in 1988.
