Jan. 4--Walking trails, fishing piers and a scooped-out basin are among the upgrades in store for McDonald Lake at Southwest 45th Avenue and Coulter Street.
While that lake gets the $4 million beauty treatment, city planners intend to leave other bodies of water around town as they are, for better or worse.
Judging by aesthetics, Lawrence Lake, south of Interstate 40 between Western Street and Paramount Boulevard, could be viewed as among the worst. Its steep shores collect litter, and rising and falling water levels have left limestone markings, like rings around a tub.
