05 JANUARY 2005 CANBERRA (Pacnews) - An Australian Premier has called on Prime Minister John Howard to tackle climate change now and sign on to the Kyoto Protocol if he wants to save the country's future generations.
South Australian Premier, Mike Rann, says the future for Australia looks worrying because of its greater biodiversity and variable climate.
"The nation is being half-hearted and gutless about climate change," Mr Rann says. He has called for a special Council of Australian Government (COAG) meeting on climate change to be held within months and had written to PM Howard and state and territory leaders seeking the special COAG meeting.
