The US Federal Reserve says inflationary pressures means it is likely to continue lifting interest rates in 2005. However, this does not mean that Australia's inflation rate and interest rates will rise during the year as well. Interest rates in the US are too low, given its economic growth rate. Furthermore, its dollar is weakening, driving up the price of imported goods as it does so.
