When news hit of Asia's crushing tsunami, fans of author Arthur C. Clarke had reason to worry: Clarke lives in Sri Lanka, where he runs a diving school.
Luckily, his concerned followers were able to turn to The Arthur C. Clarke Foundation website. And within days, there was reassurance Clarke, 87, had survived - though shaken.
"I am enormously relieved that my family and household have escaped the ravages of the sea that suddenly invaded most parts of coastal Sri Lanka, leaving a trail of destruction," the author of 2001: A Space Odyssey and other popular science fiction titles wrote on the website.
