Walter J. Casey Jr. of Hingham, a retired teacher and Army veteran, died Tuesday at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham after a long illness. He was 74.
Born and raised in Dorchester, he graduated from Boston Latin High School and from Brown University in Providence, where he received his master's degree in education and mathematics.
Mr. Casey was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a teacher at Brighton High School and also taught at Northeastern University, retiring in 1995.
