Article: Iraq Hopes to Turn Around Disappointing Oil Exports.

Iraq resumed exporting oil through the southern Basrah Oil Terminal (BOT) over the weekend after a power outage caused a temporary halt in vessel loading on Friday. Vessels started loading on Saturday at a combined rate of 80,000 barrels per hour, which is close to capacity, shipping agents said.

BOT typically accounts for more than 80% of the country's oil exports. Iraq exported more crude in December than in November, but the exports still came up well short of expectations, as violence and bad weather continued to impede oil flow at BOT and attacks along Kirkuk pipeline kept the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan shut for part of the month (OD Dec.16,p6). ...
