Stand-up comedian, actor and producer Denis Leary once called himself 'the most p***ed-off man in America' during one of his comedy shows, but today he is sitting opposite me looking exceedingly pleased with himself. We are in the cavernous offices of Apostle, the production company Leary owns, in the heart of New York's trendy SoHo.
Leary has got every reason to be cheerful.
Rescue Me, a controversial TV series about firemen that Leary writes, co-produces and stars in, is attracting huge ratings in America. The show, which claims to be a warts-and-all portrayal of firefighters in New York, is about to debut in Britain.
