BOSTON -- The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) today announced that the total number of commercial health clubs, fitness centers and gyms in the country increased to a record 26,830 facilities, as of January 2005. This growth represents a 14 percent increase over January 2004, and a 3 percent increase since July 2004. The Association estimates that the U.S. commercial health club industry grew to $14.1 billion in revenues as of January 2004, representing steady growth.
