It all started with an article in Fire Command, catching the attention of a Boise City Fire Department Fire Marshall. The Surrey, British Columbia Fire Department had constructed a fire safety house on wheels to educate elementary school children. It looked like a great way to deliver the fire prevention messages in a practical environment.
With interest piqued, Fire Prevention Bureau personnel visited fire departments in Portland, Ore. and Surrey, B.C. to view fire safety houses already built and in use.
