Major league owners unanimously approved the $223million sale of the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday from the family of commissioner Bud Selig to a group headed by Los Angeles investor Mark Attanasio.

"It's the end of a 40-year journey," said Selig, who acquired the bankrupt Seattle Pilots in 1970 and moved them to Milwaukee.

Attanasio said it was an emotional moment when he was given a standing ovation by his new colleagues in Scottsdale, Ariz.

"It's indescribable," said Attanasio, a managing director of Trust Company of the West.
