New Glarus is the latest community-owned utility in Wisconsin to join a statewide wholesale electricity purchasing company.
Wisconsin Public Power Inc. (WPPI), announced Friday that its board of directors has approved accepting an application from New Glarus Light & Water.
The move will allow some 1,200 electric customers in New Glarus to benefit from the buying power of WPPI, along with its support services. The company pools its electricity purchases, allowing it to negotiate lower prices in many cases.
New Glarus has been buying its electricity from Alliant Energy of Madison. That contract will be transferred to WPPI, ...
