ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Mentholatum Co. has purchased the Oxy brand of acne treatment and skin care products from GlaxoSmithKline.
Mentholatum, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. of Japan, is now the worldwide supplier of the entire Oxy product line, including cleansing pads, acne spot treatments and acne washes.
The deal should give a big boost to Mentholatum's domestic sales volume, since half of all current Oxy sales occur in the United States.
