SANTA BARBARA -- All roads leading to the American Riviera(R) are open, effective January 15, 2005. According to the California Department of Transportation, scenic Highway 101 and Highway 1 are cleared for travel.
The closures followed a week of unprecedented rain that caused flooding and rockslides in Gaviota, La Conchita and Lompoc. Secondary routes, including Highway 144 and Highway 192, are also open. Highway 154 (San Marcos Pass) remains closed. Visitors can easily access the Santa Ynez Valley wine country via Highway 101. More Info: 805-549-3138 or www.dot.ca.gov/dist05/.
