SEOUL, Jan. 17 (Yonhap) -- The government will build a pilot complex as a prelude to the country's first "tourism-leisure city" that is being planned for Korea's southwestern coast to spur the local tourism industry, Culture and Tourism Minister Chung Dong-chae said Monday.
The complex will cover between 9.9 million and 16.5 million square meters in reclaimed land in the Yeongam-Haenam area, South Jeolla Province, he announced at a press briefing.The tourist-orientated city is one of four corporate cities that the government is pursuing for balanced regional development and to enhance the nation's competitiveness.
