PETER DUTTON, one of the region's leading personalities on the national golf scene for many years, has retired as president of the National Association of Public Golf Courses.
That is the golf organisation for England's municipals, the courses which have been the starting point for many top players.
He has held the position for nine years and seen the organisation grow in both numbers and status.
``I am reaching my mid-70s now and feel it is time for someone else to take over, '' he says.
