Article: Army Modifies Contract To Increase Up-Armored Humvee Production Rate.(Brief Article)

The Army on Monday modified its contract with Armor Holdings [AH] allowing the company to begin ramping up production of Up-Armored Humvees from the current rate of 450 a month to 550 a month, an Army spokeswoman told Defense Daily yesterday.

The Army announced its intent to modify the contract late last Friday, news that was widely reported over the weekend although many national media reports described the announcement as providing additional armoring kits. The Up-Armored Humvee is a production vehicle, with AM General responsible for the vehicle and Armor Holdings the armoring.
