ALEXANDRIA, Va.--Chain drug stores process over 60% of the 2.05 billion outpatient prescriptions dispensed each year, according to a report for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores by Peter D. Hart Research Associates Inc.
"Drug stores are playing a much more important role in American society than they did in the past," says NACDS president and chief executive officer Ron Ziegler. "While convenience and cost will continue to be critical factors for consumers, the drug stores that provide strong pharmacy services will be the winners in the 1990s."
