The fact that Notre Dame's women's soccer team won the national title last weekend in Raleigh, N.C. -on penalty kicks, 4-3 over UCLA - is a sports story that wouldn't garner much attention around here. Especially on the same weekend the Bears actually won.
But it's certainly worth noting Geneva resident Jill Krivacek made the winning goal for the Fighting Irish. Krivacek, a sophomore, set a school record at Rosary High School with 78 goals, but as a defender who played every game for the 25-1-1 Irish, she rarely had the chance to score during the regular season.
