Jan. 19--LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Florida Citrus Commission will explore a new law allowing the state's citrus growers to opt out of paying taxes to support generic advertising for orange juice and grapefruit juice.
But the new law, if proposed and enacted by the Legislature this year, would take effect only if the Florida Department of Citrus loses the legal battle over taxes that finance the advertising program for the state's two largest citrus commodities.
