Metro Detroit nonprofits said it's too early to say if tsunami relief efforts will lower the amount of donations they receive in 2005.
The earthquake-generated giant waves came so late in the year that they did not affect 2004 donations for most organizations.
But for the American Red Cross, it may be a case of robbing Peter to Pay Paul.
"Probably 99.9 percent of the people calling in since Dec. 26 have been designating their gifts to tsunami relief,'' said Jan Shimshock, chief development and marketing officer for the American Red Cross Southeastern Michigan Chapter.
