Initial tests on a new mercury emission reduction technology at a Texas power plant are showing promise.
The Electric Power Research Institute, Texas Genco LP and URS Corp. have completed the first tests on a low-cost technology to cut mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants. They conducted the tests on Texas Genco's 890-megawatt boiler at its Limestone Station in Jewett, Texas.
