Jan. 20--The proposed Woodstock interchange off I-575 has split the city down the middle, with residents on the east side of the highway strongly in favor and those on the west side hotly opposed to the plan.
The Woodstock City Council heard from both sides and then voted 5 to 1 to move toward building the interchange. The vote authorizes two studies to be done to document the possible effect of a "split diamond" interchange, with access roads on each side of the interstate, on local traffic and the environment.
