Reality hit hard Wednesday at Winter Park, where the first of what might be several blows landed with fury. Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan accepted a stunning offer to join the Miami Dolphins, a move that symbolized the widening disparity between the Vikings and their NFL competitors.
Just 48 hours after the season ended, Linehan signed a three-year contract worth $2.55 million - making a lateral move to a team that finished 4-12 last season. Linehan's 2005 salary of $825,000 is nearly three times what he earned from the Vikings last year and $75,000 more than coach Mike Tice's 2004 salary.
