Jan. 20--ARCADIA, Calif. -- Mapmakers and tax collectors, take note: Five acres of Arcadia could become part of El Monte under a plan endorsed by both cities to allow a developer to build 34 houses on a parcel of vacant land.
At its meeting Tuesday night, the Arcadia City Council unanimously approved, in concept, the plan to allow El Monte to annex 5.19 acres near Durfee Avenue and Clark Street.
The vacant property lies on a narrow finger of Arcadia, wedged between El Monte and Irwindale, east of Peck Road and west of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. Western Pacific Development and Construction Co. purchased the land and ...
