Bharti begins second phase of landline services roll-out.

Jan. 20--NEW DELHI, India -- Bharti's telecom services arm BTVL has embarked upon the second phase of landline and broadband operations. On Wednesday, it launched Airtel 'Broadband and Telephone' services in UP and said that the operations would be extended to five other telecom circles -- Punjab, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Kerala.

Over the past decade of telecom services liberalisation, BTVL has focussed on expanding Airtel cellular services, which have 10 million subscribers in 21 telecom circles. By March end, it will launch cellular service in two more circles to have a nationwide footprint.
