Jan. 21--Two of Florida's major lobbying groups are divided over the best way to make the state more business-friendly when it comes to civil litigation.
Associated Industries of Florida has formed the Florida Coalition for Legal Reform, while the Florida Chamber of Commerce has created the Florida Justice Reform Institute. Both groups will push for changes in Florida's civil-court system, backers say.
But the decision to establish independent entities rather than combine their efforts appears to stem from the fact that the two organizations have different goals and timetables aimed at reducing the impact of civil litigation ...
