THE pounds 70m redevelopment of New Brighton could be jeopardised after a new planning blueprint for Wirral had to be scrapped, campaigners claimed last night. Council officers spent three years drawing up a revised Unitary Development Plan for the borough, which sets out which type of buildings will be allowed in particular areas.
But it does not take account of new European regulations and councillors have been forced to drop it.
It would have changed planning restrictions on land at New Brighton to allow retail development, paving the way for the proposed seafront supermarket Neptune wants to build. Instead, the council ...
