Last summer VADM Justin D. McCarthy, Director for Material Readiness and Logistics, N4, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C., put on three stars. It is the first time in the Navy's history where two Supply Corps vice admirals have served on active duty at the same time. Prior to joining the OPNAV staff, VADM McCarthy had served as Commander of the Naval Supply Systems Command and 42nd Chief of Supply Corps.
VADM Keith W. Lippert, SC, USN, was promoted to his current rank in July 2001 and became the Director of the Defense Logistics Agency. Lippert had served as the Commander NAVSUP and 41st Chief of Supply Corps.
