The history of documentary film is studded with penetrating critical examinations of individual corporations. Michael Moore's Roger & Me (1989) puts a human face on the economic devastation inflicted on Flint, Michigan by the drastic, worker-unfriendly decisions--layoffs and plans closings--made by the General Motors Corporation. More recently, Morgan Spurlock's Super Size Me features a crusading and gastronomically steadfast filmmaker who graphically and disgustingly achieves poor health by relentlessly chowing down day after day at the McDonald's trough.
