FOR generations, women have fought to smash the 'glass ceiling' in the quest for equal pay.

But yesterday it emerged that the battle has been won after new figures revealed that women in East Lothian have become the only female workers in Britain to earn more than their male counterparts.

Across the UK, women are earning up to [pounds sterling]513 less than their male colleagues, and East Lothian is the only area which is bucking the trend.
