I read the editorial in Social Work (October 2003 issue) with a great deal of interest. A couple of things in the editorial really struck me as important to think about in how we as a profession teach other social workers. First, I can understand how epidemiological data and articles about methodology are of lower interest to many social workers. Although I wonder if that demonstrates a problem in how we train social workers or how we use these types of information. Sometimes I think that social work as a profession is so client-centric that we forget that our role is more than to help an individual client improve his or her situation.
