In Niels Mueller's drama "The Assassination of Richard Nixon," the image of the 37th president seems to be on every TV set in America circa 1974. Admired by some (because "he's the greatest salesman in the country") and loathed by others (because he consorts with dictators), Nixon holds an iconic position in the imagination of the film's principal characters. Especially that of Sam Bicke (Sean Penn), a frustrated loser who bids for immortality with a plan to crash a hijacked jet into the White House.
