AUSTIN, Texas _ For years, playing zone defense was as laughable to Texas coach Rick Barnes as a late night talk show punch line. It was a sign of weakness, an admission by a coach that he didn't have the athletes to man up for 40 minutes.
It seemed all the great coaches _ including Texas Tech's Bob Knight _ refused to use them.
Times change. Circumstances change. Barnes and Texas are now living in the zone _ and loving it.
